Like most people, I have a pile of cords around my TV/computer/DVR/modem/etc, etc, etc. I hate having them all in a pile, so I researched many solutions and I found the Cable Capture at Ace Hardware, special order of course. I ordered one, found out I loved it, and proceeded to order six more. I still think I need a few more. There are still too many cords, but at least I feel better about how it looks!

Finished!
So glad that I'm finally finished with the room! I had my home study this week, and should be officially licensed within the next couple of weeks. Very exciting...

Not a Blank Slate Anymore...
I finally turned the big, blank wall into something more colorful...
I'm still deciding if I like the random pattern, or if I want something more structured.

Sophie
Sophie had a good day today, hanging out with me. It's been my first Saturday in a long time to be home. She managed to get some work done, too!
Very Hard to Find...
I want to do my baby room in Wall-Pops, removable decorative dots for the wall. (This is a much easier solution than paint!). Home Depot seems to be the only place that carries them, but even then their selection is not the colors I want. I wound up buying the color Pear, but it was too bright, so I ventured over to a different Home Depot and found to of the colors I want: Hot Chocolate and Stylin' Green. Still looking for Totally Orange.

Makeover Project #1
First item of business was to recover my hope chest and its not-so-awesome print. It went from this:
To this:
Already much better. Can't wait to get the rest of the room in shape

Finished Bulletin Board
Finally finished my bulletin board, thought that a mix of colors would be something different:
If it doesn't work, I can always change it!

I Also Love Spray Paint
I have a love for spray paint, more so since watching HGTV and DIY. The designers and decorators are always saying how you can freshen up anything with a good can of spray paint. I have many different things in many different colors.
Today's project is a bulletin board that has been sitting in storage since 2005; I have now decided to put it to good use in the baby bedroom. It is a typical, boring board:
I had an apple green color that I thought might match my fabric, but I was wrong

So I went to Wal-Mart strictly for their marvelous selection of spray paint colors and found two that I liked, "Jade" and "Bahama Sea"
Now I am at this point in the makeover:

Vintage Thread
I acquired a small, but fabulous, collection of vintage sewing thread. Most of the spools are wooden, dating from the 1960's and 1970's. One possibly from the 1950's. As a sewer only familiar with plastic spools, I do love the novelty of them, even the one made of Styrofoam. I definitely want to display them, rather than use them, so I found a great jar at the Container Store to display them. It's only half full, so I guess I need to hunt for more to fill it up.

My half-full jar
It has some great greens

And great prices

Cold Enough (in Houston) for a Fire
It's cold (for Houston) so I decided that today was the day I would use my fireplace. I've lived here for over a year and haven't never used it. I bought a fire log from H-E-B, but didn't realize until I got home that it was too short for my grate. It's burning to the side of the fireplace, rather than in the middle. Note to self: buy long fire logs!
