So What if it's for College Dorms?

Most of my green decorating has come from Target, which is their line of home goods geared towards college students. Good thing for me that the green is gender-neutral and they carry an abundance of goodies to match my room!
The lamp that was in the room was an icky, old black lamp left over from college days; it sometimes doesn't even work right:

Thanks to this Sunday's ad, I bought a brand new lamp in spinach green to match the room:

Now to get the spinach green wall clock...

My Recalled Crib

I was blessed to get a crib for free from a friend of a friend. After vacation I put it together, then looked on cpsc.gov to see if it was recalled. Lo and behold, the entire line of cribs from this (now defunct) company have been recalled. They were recalled not only for the sides, but for the mattress support collapsing. I have been scouring craigslist to find a reasonably  priced crib without a drop down side. I think I found one here. She said she would hold it for me until payday, so if it's meant to be, it will be!

Some Organization

Like most people, I have a pile of cords around my TV/computer/DVR/modem/etc, etc, etc. I hate having them all in a pile, so I researched many solutions and I found the Cable Capture at Ace Hardware, special order of course. I ordered one, found out I loved it, and proceeded to order six more. I still think I need a few more. There are still too many cords, but at least I feel better about how it looks!

Finished!

So glad that I'm finally finished with the room! I had my home study this week, and should be officially licensed within the next couple of weeks. Very exciting...

The perfect green Pack and Play...

All my new toys have a home, and the play yard matches the decor!

My Sunflower-y Kitchen

As you can see, I love sunflowers!

Home Study Preparation

My home study is just around the corner in this next month, so my apartment needs to be in excellent shape.Today was all about my dining room and my living room; my bathroom was done earlier. Living room pictures to come soon...

My bathroom is huge! I would have liked a bit more living space in lieu of a large bathroom

My dining room has a great alcove, so I turned it into my library. I had books everywhere and no shelving whatsoever. This is what is was when I first moved in:

Thanks to Target, I bought expensive looking black bookshelves to make it look complete and feel like a real library!

Newest Acquisitions

I have recently acquired some goodies from some wonderful friends. Ashley (my fabulous coworker) bequeathed me the rocker, toddler car seat, and high chair. The convertible car seat came from Liza, and the changing table pad a fabulous $5 Craigslist find.

Room is Almost Finished

After spending the majority of the day today cleaning, vacuuming and the like, the baby room is almost finished. I still need to get the Pack 'n Play that I want, and maybe order some red dots for the walls.I'm pretty happy at how it turned out.

I wanted to use the top shelf for all my children's books, but the shelves aren't strong enough and only attached to one stud in the wall. Better to be safe than sorry and keep the books elsewhere.

My word art that I really liked; found at Hobby Lobby for half price!

Didn't like the paint color of the bulletin board, so repainted it to match the green of the room. Pack 'n Play is Ken and Marleah's, on loan until I get my own.

I've always wanted a bible verse on the wall; finally found the right one!

The final product for the changing table; just need to get a changing pad and I'll be all set

Since I don't have overhead lighting, this lamp will have to do.

Damaged Goods

My long-awaited, Totally Orange dots arrived DAMAGED! They were curled up into my mailbox, which punctured a hole through the packaging at at least two dots. I've decided to use them anyway, because it would cost more to send them back than to just use them and cover up the holes.

Painting Project Complete...For Now

I decided to be advantageous and paint the alphabet and the numbers on the wall, as well as the border around the desk:

I've Made it Make Sense

A built in desk in an apartment is a good thing, right?
Not so great when you don't have any shelving above the desk!

What purpose does it serve, other than to be an incredibly huge, blank canvas. So I traded in the blank canvas for the obvious choice: shelving!

It doesn't look so weird anymore!

Remodel: As Much As Possible in An Apartment

I have been remodeling/cleaning/decorating my baby bedroom to the fullest extent possible. Since it's an apartment, I am limited on what I can do. So far I have made the window treatment:

For a boy, it's dots

For a girl, it's stripes, with dots and flowers

Not a Blank Slate Anymore...

I finally turned the big, blank wall into something more colorful...

I'm still deciding if I like the random pattern, or if I want something more structured.

Very Hard to Find...

I want to do my baby room in Wall-Pops, removable decorative dots for the wall. (This is a much easier solution than paint!). Home Depot seems to be the only place that carries them, but even then their selection is not the colors I want. I wound up buying the color Pear, but it was too bright, so I ventured over to a different Home Depot and found to of the colors I want: Hot Chocolate and Stylin' Green. Still looking for Totally Orange.

Makeover Project #1

First item of business was to recover my hope chest and its not-so-awesome print. It went from this:

To this:

Already much better. Can't wait to get the rest of the room in shape

Attempting a Room Makeover

I have started to do a home makeover on my second bedroom; I started with before photos of it's current state:

Not so pretty!
